ENTER THE NARROW GATE: SAINT BENEDICT'S STEPS TO CHRISTIAN MATURITY
"Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road is easy that leads to destruction, and there are many who take it. For the gate is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life, and there few who find it." (Matthew 7:13-14)
If life is a portal to paradise, then how we get there should be everyone's concern. Our Christian call is to know, love, and serve God in this world that we may be happy with him in heaven. In our day-to-day lives, this means finding and keeping to the narrow way that Jesus describes as the path to heaven.
Fortunately, we have a vast collection of Christian classics to help us on our way, and one of the greatest is Saint Benedict's Rule. In Enter the Narrow Gate: Saint Benedict's Steps to Christian Maturity, Susan Muto draws from Saint Benedict's twelve steps to humility, showing how these steps give us a road map to the narrow way. Rooted in timeless spiritual principles, this book offers guidance and encouragement to find and stay on the narrow path, no matter how attractive the easy road may seem.
The choices we make each day have eternal ramifications, and there can be no compromise between the narrow way and the easy road. Ultimately, each of us must face -- and answer -- this all-important question: Are we willing to enter through the narrow gate and follow the narrow way all the way to heaven?

EUCHARIST AND SPIRITUAL GROWTH
Many faithful today have difficulty with the celebration of the Eucharist. They do not identify with it, and the Eucharist is not the place for them in which they encounter God. This volume attempts to explain and to redefine the traditional concepts of the essence of the Eucharist. The Eucharist is a matter of change in our life. In it, we merge into our redeemed and liberated existence, into the mystery of life which even transcends death.

EVEN THOUGH I WALK: ONE WOMAN'S JOURNEY OF PRAYER IN THE SHADOW OF DEATH
"To be honest, at this point only two things interest me: my oncologist's advice and if you can teach me to pray."
So began a two-year correspondence between a medical doctor who became a priest, Benedictine monk, and now prior of Montserrat--the monastery that is a spiritual, cultural, historical, and environmental icon in Catalonia--and an accomplished and beloved cardiologist, scientist, mentor, daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend with a newly diagnosed lung tumor. In this profoundly honest book, two spiritual seekers on two different life-paths walk together through the valley of the shadow of death, praying the psalms in joy and anguish, doubt and praise.
The letters and conversations shared between Magda and Fr. Ignasi offer deep and poignant insights into the very human--and quotidian--dynamics of the life-and-death journey we all face.

FATHER SOLANUS CASEY: REVISITED & UPDATED
"What does it matter where we go? Wherever we go, won't we be serving God there?"
Father Solanus Casey (1870-1957) -- Wisconsin native, Capuchin friar, and miracle-worker -- lived this motto throughout his life. By his gentle, cheerful example, he taught others to have that same trust in God.
Wherever he was sent -- whether to parishes in New York City or monasteries in Detroit and Huntington, Indiana -- Father Casey was widely sought after for his wise counsel, powerful prayers, and miraculous healings. Visitors flocked to the humble monastery doorkeeper, seeking physical cures, advice, and spiritual renewal. Thousands of mourners attended his funeral in July 1957, hailing him as a modern saint.
Catherine M. Odell proves that Father Casey's witness remains more important than ever. Featuring first-hand personal accounts and 16 pages of photos, Father Solanus Casey takes readers past the ordinary appearance of this self-effacing friar into his extraordinary holiness.

FINDING HAPPINESS: MONASTIC STEPS FOR A FULFILLING LIFE
Why is being happy such an imperative in our world today? What is the meaning of happiness? In this book Abbot Christopher Jamison turns to monastic wisdom for answers. He explains that, in essence, happiness is a gift not an achievement. It is the fruit of giving and receiving blessings. Following the same accessible and engaging format of his previous book, Finding Sanctuary, Abbot Christopher examines different aspects of happiness and tells us what monastic wisdom has to say about them. In doing so, he offers steps for the journey of finding happiness.
Christopher Jamison is abbot of Worth Abbey, a Benedictine monastery near London. He is also president of the International Commission on Benedictine Education and sits on the Council of the alliance for International Monasticism, a body that promotes links between monasteries across the North/South divide. He is author of Finding Sanctuary: Monastic Steps for Everyday Life and was the host of the popular BBC documentary series The Monastery.

FLOWERS IN THE DESERT - SPIRITUALITY OF THE BIBLE
The bible is, above all other things, a record of God's love for the human race. In its words and through its stories God reveals himself and calls those who hear the word into communion with him. When we first approach the bible, however, we encounter a variety of literary styles -- histories, poetry, sagas, moral advice and visionary productions. There is often a problem of discerning the simple theme of call-and-response in all these styles, or of finding a connection in the bible to our 20th century existence. This book opens the door to the deep message the bible conveys to individual Christians today. Putting aside for a moment questions of doctrine or historical interpretation, it concentrates on the spiritual teaching of the Old and New Testaments. It begins with God's call to humanity and to each of us individually. Then it considers the human adventure of our journey through life. Finally it looks at our ultimate homecoming to the Father. The many references to biblical passages and daily life make this an invaluable book for those who want to know about the bible -- but even more, who want to live it.

FLYING, FALLING, CATCHING: AN UNLIKELY STORY OF FINDING FREEDOM
PAPERBACK
"Flying, Falling, Catching is a beacon of hope. It reminds us that despite all the perils and sufferings that surround us, with which we often collide, we can find healing, peace, and awe even in the most unusual detours that life offers. A must read." -- Marina Nemat, Author of international best-seller Prisoner of Tehran
"In Carolyn Whitney-Brown's deft hands, Henri's intentions literally, vividly swing alive. This is a beautiful, moving story about interconnectivity, interdependence, and life's rich, beautiful, complicated pageant. I devoured it in a sitting." -- Lisa Napoli, Author of Susan, Linda, Nina & Cokie
Henri Nouwen's real-life story of his surprising friendship with a traveling trapeze troupe.
What will we do with our lives, and with whom will we do it? In this story of flying and catching, Nouwen invites us all to let go and fly, even when we are afraid of falling.
During the last five years of his life, best-selling spiritual author Henri J. M. Nouwen became close to The Flying Rodleighs, a trapeze troupe in a traveling circus. Like Nouwen's own life, a trapeze act is full of artistry, exhilarating successes, crushing failures and continual forgiveness. He wrote about his experience in a genre new to him: creative non-fiction.
In Flying, Falling, Catching, Nouwen's colleague and friend Carolyn Whitney-Brown presents his unpublished trapeze writings framed by the true story of his rescue through a hotel window by paramedics during his first heart attack. Readers will meet Nouwen as a spiritual risk taker who was transformed through his engagement with these trapeze artists, as well as his participation in the Civil Rights movement, his life in community with people with intellectual disabilities, his personal growth through friendships during the 1990s AIDS pandemic, and other unexpected encounters.
